Why I Love Photography

Why I Love Photography (and How Vanlife Made It Even Better)

Before I ever stepped into a van, I was already chasing light — through windows, on walks, during those quiet golden moments at sunrise. Photography has always been more than a hobby for me. It’s how I slow down, pay attention, and capture the story behind the moment.

But since moving into vanlife, that connection has deepened in ways I never expected.

🛣️ Vanlife Changed How I See the World

Living in a van means waking up in a new place more often than not. One day it’s a misty field; the next, it’s the coast bathed in morning light. Every location brings a new light source, a new texture, a new story.

Photography has become a way to not just document those moments, but to truly experience them. When you’re living slow, the light and shadows hit differently.

🎯 Why I Shoot

I shoot to remember.
I shoot to share.
But mostly, I shoot to stay present.

Photography forces me to pause, to notice the fog hanging low over the lake, or how the light breaks between the trees. It pulls me back into the moment when my mind tries to drift to the next stop or next challenge.

🧰 My Setup? That’s Coming Soon

If you’re wondering what gear I use on the road, how I keep it minimal, and which tools I trust. That’s coming in a follow-up post. I’ve got a lightweight, road-tested setup that fits vanlife perfectly, and I’ll be sharing it all soon.

📷 Final Thought

Photography and vanlife go hand in hand for me. One gives me the freedom to roam – the other gives me the lens to truly see. Together, they’ve changed the way I experience the world, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Stay tuned for more photo stories and gear tips from the road.
